About MR

Melody Robine is a researcher, curator and writer. Her work bridges societal and artistical concerns, specifically regarding issues of memory politics, public space and gender.

She is currently a PhD candidate in Theory of Arts and Languages at the Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) and Sorbonne Université (Paris, France). Her doctoral research focuses on artistic interventions in the urban space in (ex-)Yugoslavia after 1980.

Alongside her academic work, she develops curatorial and public programmes. Her practice brings together archival research, politically informed artistic practices and collaborative formats of knowledge production.

Melody Robine was an Arasse fellow at Villa Medici – Académie de France à Rome in 2026, and was awarded the fellowship for Balkan studies by the École française de Rome (EFR) in 2025.

She is also involved in teaching and collective research initiatives (Sciences Po Paris, EHESS, Sorbonne Université). She contributes to several collaborative projects within French and European Institutions (Mucem in Marseille, Institut français Paris) dedicated to South East European (art) histories, material cultures, and transnational research networks.
